REACH OUT and .

Reach-out activities constitute an integral part of Summer 2003 Program at Collegium Hieronymi Pragensis. Their main goal is to extend students' study abroad experience beyond the walls of CHP classrooms and open new venues for students' immersion into Czech culture, life and society.
The Reach-out activities are obligatory for students of Milestones of the Czech History and Civilization course and open to all students of Summer 2003 Program. All expenses (including some but not all meals) are covered by CHP tuition. The following is a list of all Reach-out activities planned for Summer 2003 Program. In case of any questions, write please to summer03@chp.cz.

 

June 21

Orientation - Welcome to Prague!
One day Orientation in Prague to get to know each other and CHP staff.

How to get to the program facility, where to change money, where to eat, where the best jazz clubs and cafés are... Program rules.

June 22

Visit to the Prague Castle
A guided tour of the Prague Castle.

Opening dinner Summer 2003 Session
Informal meeting with CHP faculty and staff in a beautiful Prague restaurant.

June 27-28

Trip to Southern Bohemia - Cesky Krumlov, Zlata Koruna
Cesky Krumlov is a mediaeval town in Southern Bohemia, one of the most beautiful Czech cities protected by UNESCO with a unique baroque theatre. Zlata Koruna is an example of a gothic monastery, a mediaeval center of education and culture.

July 9

Trip to Kutna Hora
From the 14th century Kutna Hora was an important royal silver mining town with royal mint. Since 1995 Kutna Hora is on the UNESCO world heritage list. The Cathedral of St. Barbora is considered one of the most impressive gothic cathedrals in Central Europe.

July 12-13

Trip to Southern Moravia
Proclaimed the best CHP trip. Staying overnight in Znojmo. Wine tasting in a small private wine cellar. Punkva caves with a boat trip.

July 16

Trip to Terezín town.
Visit of the town Terezín (Theresienstadt) which gained notoriety under the Nazis as the nefarious concentration camp

July 31
