Curriculum

The Spring 2012 program offers courses in economics, political sciences, sociology, modern Czech history, Jewish studies, art history, Czech and Europen literature, gender studies, religious studies, modern Czech film, filmmaking, Media studies, and Czech language.

Spring 2012 is the semester when CHP introduces a Media studies component to its curriculum. Two new courses,

constitute the core of the component. A student interested in media studies can either focus on film issues and combine the filmmaking course with Czech film history course which has been a very successful part of the CHP curriculum (Modern Czech Film: History on Screen), or prefer issues of mass media and enroll the Media, Society, Culture course together with, for instance, Emblematic Reductions: Icons of American and Czech Popular Culture, a course highly praised by CHP students so far.

The semester program lasts for sixteen and half weeks including a short orientation and a week-long semester break.

Full time students enroll in core course session courses and four semester courses, one of which is usually Czech. Only students with full-time status are accepted.
